tanabata

七夕（しちせき/たなばた）は、日本・中国・朝鮮などにおける節供・節日のひとつ。旧暦7月7日の夜のことであるが、日本では明治改暦以降は7月7日または月遅れの8月7日に多く祭が行われる。五節句の一つにも数えられる。
古くは、棚機（たなばた）とも表記し、今日一般的にたなばたと発音するのはその名残である。元来中国での行事であったものが奈良時代に伝わり、もとからあった日本の棚織津女（たなばたつめ）の伝説と合わさって生まれた言葉である.
